Here are some questions that we have been asked by clients (in no particular order). Please read through the following, as many of your questions and concerns will likely be addressed in this section.

Why hire live music?

Over the past decade, the DJ has become the go-to choice for entertainment in the wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, and corporate event world. Once a thriving industry, live event entertainment now has a stigma attached to it that has steered potential clients towards pre-recorded music. But we don't blame you! Let's face it, most wedding bands you see today are exactly what the stereotype dictates. They're out of touch, outdated and expensive. Most of the players are in the “winding-down phase” of their career (which means they are probably your parent's age!), they'll never be able to pull off the latest Lady Gaga song…they're still playing the Electric Slide!! Terms that come to mind are “cheesy”, “corny”, and “cliché”. We get it. We've seen it, too! But we've never heard of anyone leaving a wedding, saying “Wow, that DJ was amazing! He MADE the party!”. But when there's a terrific live band, people can't stop talking about it. A Premier Source Live band or musician brings a level of sophistication, elegance and entertainment value that is not possible with a DJ alone. There is something magical about a live performance and hearing a talented singer or the artistry and electricity of a great rhythm section bringing your favorite songs to life. Our musicians are enjoyable to watch, interactive and full of energy. We treat your guests with respect while getting them involved in the fun.

The videos, photos and audio samples of the bands on your website are great, but what if we want to see the group in person before making our decision?

No problem! We understand that the promotional material on our website is only the first part of helping you make your decision to hire a Premier Source band. That's why we regularly host private and public showcases to give our clients an opportunity to see our bands in action, first hand. If you can't make it to one of our scheduled events, we are happy to work with you to schedule a private showcase at one of our performance spaces in Westchester or NYC.

How far in advance should we book our entertainment?

The best practice is to secure your entertainment 6 months prior to your event. However, we know that sometimes this is an impossibility. At Premier Source, anytime is the right time to book or add musicians to your affair.

What type of music do you specialize in?

All types!! Premier Source performers are the most accomplished musicians around, so the repertoire is as eclectic as you want it to be. From Frank Sinatra and Bruno Mars, to Spanish and Italian classics, our groups and sections can and do play it all! Of course we are happy to provide a song list for your review.

Do we choose our musical selections, or do you?

Your Premier Source agent will meet and/or consult with you prior to your event to discuss your likes and dislikes. Normally we will focus on the songs you do not want to hear. With your input and our experience, our bands and musicians read the crowd and play appropriate selections throughout the affair. For a wedding, our groups can perform all spotlight dances, including the most important – your first dance.

What if there is a song I want to hear that isn't listed on your song list?

If there is a song or dedication that you do not see on our song list, we are happy to add it specially for you. We ask that final song requests be submitted no less than 2 weeks prior to the event. Additionally, all of our bands are equipped with a mobile DJ rig, and an enormous collection of pre-recorded music, current through the day of the event. We can also support your own CD player, iPod, or other playback device if you want to provide a special playlist for any portion of the event.

For what types of occasions do you provide entertainment?

Our ensembles are suitable for literally ANY occasion you can think of. From huge corporate events, to small social gatherings, we have a group that is just the right size and style to suit your exact needs. We are available for private parties, country club functions, charitable fund raisers, dinner dances, bar/bat mitzvahs, sweet 16's, anniversaries, galas, cotillions, and of course, weddings of all kinds.

Will the band or MC interact with my guests, and how much interaction can we expect?

This is entirely up to you. Our entertainers are wireless, and they are great at getting your guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor, as well as involving everyone in the action. But this is not always appropriate for every event. A wedding or corporate event is much different than a mitzvah or children's celebration in this regard. We let you decide how much interaction there will be.

How much of a deposit should I expect to pay, and do people typically tip their band or entertainer?

The industry standard for the deposit is 50% of the total fee, due upon signing of the contract. A tip is not mandatory by any means, but is always appreciated. It is common practice to tip your bandleader or MC for the full group and they will allocate to the other performers.

Our venue asked if our vendors are insured. Are you?

Yes. We can provide proof of insurance and workers compensation to the venue via email or fax prior to the event.

Can you play ethnic/traditional songs?

Yes. Our bands and musicians are able to perform all kinds of traditional ethnic music, including Jewish, Spanish dance and Italian operatic selections. We can also offer an array of specialty groups and musicians that can be added as extras to our bands for that taste of culture and tradition. From the Horah to the Tarantella, Greek bouzouki, Russian dancers or mariachi bands, we also have the area's best and most authentic specialty ethnic ensembles.

Do you offer DJ's, or only live entertainers?

We encourage all of our clients to look at our live bands because of the unmatched excitement live music brings to an event. However, we understand that some clients are on a limited budget. That's why we also offer seasoned, experienced, professional event DJ's and MC's as an affordable option. For those who really want to experience live music but don't have the budget for a full service band, we also have our biggest seller – Live/DJ Fusion. This is the perfect mixture of a DJ and any combination of live instrumentalists and/or vocalists performing along with the music. If you've already selected your own DJ, don't worry! Our performers can be seamlessly added to any party.

How many breaks will the performer(s) take?

Food service determines much of the flow of any event, so make sure you convey to your caterer your desire to have the band be allowed as much time for dancing as possible. We always aim to make sure the party maintains momentum and flows smoothly from start to end. You will certainly want to give your guests a chance to catch their breath and the musicians a chance to freshen up. During breaks, we will provide pre-recorded music and a Premier Source Party Professional will be on hand at all times to keep the party going.

Are there any hidden additional fees?

No! All insurance, production costs, crew and standard lighting are included. Please keep this in mind when comparison shopping.
